Toyota produced a noise cancelling system that will be used to make the interior of the Lexus silent in the near future. Microphones will be installed into the roof of the car which will detect ambient noise in the cabin. The speakers will then play back an opposing frequency that will be used to cancel the noise out.

According to Toyota the new system will also be able to cancel out the hum of the engine. Toyota has already made plans to install it in the next-generation Toyota Crown Hybrid - which will be selling only in Japan. However, it is possible that we will see this new system in other brands.

Toyota stated this week that they will be installing solar panels in their next-generation Prius hybrids. The solar panels will be placed on the roof of the cars and will be placed on some of the more high-end versions.

According to Toyota we can expect to see these newly redesigned Prius hybrids in the spring of 2009. The panels will give part of the 2 to 5 kilowatts that is needed to power the air conditioning. Kyocera will be supplying the panels to Toyota.

The Pontiac G8 GT has everything that consumers are looking for in an affordable car; speed, horsepower, and a comfortable, spacious interior. The MSRP on this Pontiac is $29,995. Pontiac is confident in their 2008 model and is telling consumers that it is not only a bargain but also the “Most powerful car starting under $30K.”

But the company will have to ditch that ad campaign with the 2009 model as prices for a G8 GT will now begin at $31,360, or some $1,365 more than the previous year. Some of the cost is due to more standard luxuries like XM Radio, but at least part of the increase can be blamed on those familiar culprits of a weak U.S. dollar and rise in material costs. Still, we would’ve thought some of the car’s cost was trimmed by ditching the oversized auxiliary gauges for the car’s battery charge and oil pressure.

Due to currency problems Volkswagen has decided not to sell the new Mk VI Golf in Brazil, Australia, or the United States. They have to do what makes them the most profit and according to their research selling it in the U.S. is not profitable for them.

It is sad to hear because the Golf is VW’s second highest selling car next to the Jetta and many of us are wondering what will become of the line if there is to be no new addition to the line-up. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out.
