IIHS Rates Cadillac CTS In Top Ten Safety Picks For 2008

Cadillac is celebrating this week after its CTS was placed on the list for IIHS’ Top Safety Picks for 2008. It seems that the awards keep rolling in and haven’t stopped since its release last year. The IIHS did a number of tests on how well it did in rear crashes, front crashes, side crashes, and how well it did with the control of its electronic stability. Also on the list was Volvo’s S80, Saab’s 9-3, Audi’s A4, and A6.

Damage Sensing ‘Smart Tire’ Developed

A team at Purdue University recently developed a new type of “smart” tire with the ability to sense damage when a tire goes flat or loses treads. This latest development in tire technology has the potential of greatly increasing highway safety.

General Motors Recalling 313,000 Vehicles

Ouch, that’s gotta suck. General Motors annonced earlier today that it was recalling 313,000 passenger cars and crossover vehicles in an effort prevent the driver from potentially losing control  due to rear axle pinion seal that’s prone to leaking.
