2008 New York Auto Show: Winners Of 2008 World Car Of The Year Awards

Mazda 2/Demio

It’s that time of year again to announce the winner of the 2008 World Car of the Year Award. Cars from around the world are judged on their value, safety, merit, and of course how responsible and helpful they are to the environment. I know that each of us were rooting for our personal favorites (Mercedes S-Class) – but here are the three finalists; the Mazda2/Demio, Ford Mondeo, and Mercedes C-Class. The winner was (drum roll) the Mazda2/Demio – which was a bit of a surprise to some of us here at CarXen.

Many of us were pleasantly surprised (if not a little shocked) that their number one pick for 2007 was the Honda Fit. This year we are happy with most of their choices such as the ‘Best Luxury Sedan’ being the Mercedes C-Class or the ‘Best Small Utility’ being the Nissan Rogue. However, it seems that we still can’t agree with all of their choices. We’ll let you decide for yourself what you think should or should not be on their list.

Nissan Murano

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has once again performed the necessary tests on nine new CUV’s and SUV’s. We all know the drill. They perform a series of tests on the front, side, and rear impact testing of the car. Each one will try to prove its worth – but only one will be granted the title of Top Safety Pick award.
