Andrea Pininfarina

Andrea Pininfarina died in a motorcycle accident close to his company headquarters in Cambiano. Authorities suggest that he was hit by a car while on his way to work. He was 51 years old.

Andrea was the CEO and chairman of Pininfarina and the grandson of Battista Pinin Farina - the founder of the company. He and his father Sergio, brother Paolo, and sister Lorenza all shared duties in running the company.

His death came right when he was trying to restructure all that had been lost by the company. Piero Ferrari, Vincent Bollore, and Ratan Tata are the new investors for the company and will be putting in £80m to help recapitalize the company.

Because of this the Pininfarina family will cede control of the company. This will be the first time they have done this since it was first founded in the 1930’s. The investors will help to bring in new business and will be redesigning and producing a brand new electric car for Bollore.
