Things have definitely gone down hill if we think that paying $3 a gallon for gas is low. In some parts of the country the gas prices are at $3.65 and every day it seems that this number is getting larger instead of smaller. Not only have consumers been feeling the negative effects from these rising prices - but many automakers are suffering from it as well. However, there is one automaker who is determined to turn things around.

Chrysler is looking for a way to improve their sales by telling customers that they will not have to pay a cent oer $2.99 per gallon for almost all of the gas that they will use in a brand new Jeep, Dodge, or Chrysler for the next three years. This new program is said to start May 7 and will run all the way through June 2.

“We want to give our customers peace of mind,” said Chrysler vice chairman Jim Press as he rolled out the new program during a conference call with reporters. “One of the things that is weighing on the minds of customers is the volatility of the price of gasoline.”

Many consumers are looking at this program a a life saver to those who are unable or who don’t want to get rid of their gas guzzlers. Under this new plan - which is being called “Let’s Refuel America” Chrysler will be paying the difference between the $2.99 and the higher pump prices that it will take to fuel up your car through the use of a gas card. If the gas ever did fall below the $2.99 mark within the three years than there wil be no need for the gas card.
