Owner Turns Prius Into Hybrid Convertible

Modified Prius

Usually we are excited to see a car that has been modified. Most of the cars that we see have been given more power, better interior, and even the exterior has been tweaked enough to give it a fresher look. Unfortunately not everyone has the knack for this and this modified Prius is a perfect example of that.

Exproducer is a member of the PriusChat forum who spent $17,000 in modifications for his Waveline Blue Prius. He decided one day that he wanted to experience this summer in true form so he did the necessary modifications to remove the roof from the car and to install the electricity that would operate the soft top.

The new roof was not only expensive – but it also took out the side airbags and kept the rear seats from folding down. The antenna was moved from its rightful place and placed on the dashboard and the trunk space has been dramatically decreased.

Exproducer is happy with the changes that he made to his car and claims that the new look has increased the fuel economy of the car by four MPG’s. Whether or not this is true is highly skeptical.
