2008 New York Auto Show: Winners Of 2008 World Car Of The Year Awards

It’s that time of year again to announce the winner of the 2008 World Car of the Year Award. Cars from around the world are judged on their value, safety, merit, and of course how responsible and helpful they are to the environment. I know that each of us were rooting for our personal favorites (Mercedes S-Class) – but here are the three finalists; the Mazda2/Demio, Ford Mondeo, and Mercedes C-Class. The winner was (drum roll) the Mazda2/Demio – which was a bit of a surprise to some of us here at CarXen.

2008 New York Auto Show: Transit Connect Taxi

What better place to show off a taxi cab than in New York – where they are always being used. Designer J. Mays and Ford’s Mark Fields unvieled the Transit Connect Taxi concept. This was their main vehicle of the day and they were skeptical whether or not it would receive the response they were hoping for. Amazingly enough they received quite the introduction when they showed it off.

There was a bit of skepticism when Jesse Vigil decorated his 2007 Ford Mustang like a police car. He painted it black and white, had the words ‘police’ on the side of the doors, and placed an emergency bar on the top of the car.
