Honda Ceases U.S. Motorcycle Production

Honda has made the decision to cease production of motorcycles here in the U.S. by closing down the plant in Marysville, Ohio. The plant and the facility’s output located in Hamamatsu, Japan will be relocated to Honda’s new bike plant in Kumamoto. The transition will be conducted next year.
The Marysville plant produced 44,000 Gold Wing and VTX models in 2007 alone. Usually with a change like this we would expect to see hundreds of layoffs. However, Honda is providing for their employees and will be relocating them to the different Honda businesses located around the entire state of Ohio.
