2008 Chicago Auto Show - Hyundai Shows Off 2009 Sonata

2009 Sonata

Hyundai released the Sonata for the 2007 model year in hopes that it would be a great way to compete against Honda, Toyota, and Nissan in the midsize sedan market. The Sonata turned out to be a car that consumers would love and have added some new features to the 2009 model. They want to make sure that they stay ahead of the competition without losing any ground.

In order to do this they have turned it into a sedan that looks sporty – but also has some of the traditional designs of an everyday sedan. We can tell that the designers from Hyundai have done this job well. The outside of the vehicle is both traditional and yet has a slight sporty edge look to it. The interior of the vehicle is much the same way. It was built with some really good materials and was given more features than what can be found in the current model.

The power and handling of the vehicle is still as good as ever if not tweaked a little to be a bit better. Hyundai has equipped the vehicle with both a 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder versions. They have taken advantage of the architecture from the second generation Theta engine for the 2.4 liter inline-four – which packs a good 175 horsepower.

If that isn’t enough power for you than you can always choose the updated 3.3 liter V6 Lambda – which offers 249 horsepower. The Lambda is only offered in the 5 speed automatic. So if you were to have the 4 cylinder to will have the option of the 5 speed and the automatic.
