2008 Chicago Auto Show - GMC Denali XT Concept

GMC Denali XT

Brian Nesbitt – GM’s designer – had the pleasure of introducing the new GMC Denali XT concept at during the 2008 Chicago Auto Show. At first glance no words could come to our minds. It is definitely one that we could stare at all day – but to find the right words to describe the look of it can be quite hard to come up with.

The Denali concept was built as the first U.S. ‘Ute’ car-based pickup that has been built on the Zeta rear wheel drive platform. This four door pickup was designed at GM’s Australian studio where they used the rear wheel drive design that can also be found on the Pontiac G8 and Holden Commodore.

The Denali sports the first example use of GM’s two-mode hybrid system with that of the flex-fuel engine. The V8 4.9 liter flex-fuel engine was designed to increase the power of the vehicle and to improve upon fuel economy by up to 50% through the use of its direct fuel injection.

GM didn’t let on to us if GMC was going to release a production version of the car. We feel pretty confident and have high hopes that we will see the Denali again sometime in the near future.
