Chrysler Plans On Cutting 5,000 Jobs

Last year Chrysler revealed to us their ‘Recovery and Transformation’ plan – which was going to allow them to reduce the amount of people they employ drastically by 2009. At that time Chrysler was unwilling to give us any more information because they had not finished working out all of the details. The wait is over and Chrysler has revealed their plans.
Between now and the end of March Chrysler will be cutting 5,000 jobs. All of the job cuts will affect five different plants in North America. All of the workers that will be laid off will be hourly workers. They have stated that 900 workers will be taken from the Jefferson North Assembly Plant, 1,140 from Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, 780 from Toledo North Assembly Plant, 1,000 from Brampton Assembly Plant, 1,096 from Belvedere Assembly Plant. We hope that the workers affected will be able to find quick work elsewhere.
