Aston Martin Racing’s GT2 Vantage Revealed

 Aston Martin Racing GT2 Vantage

Well, sort of. At least in sketch form. What you see here is Aston Martin’s GT2-class racecar based on their V8 Vantage roadcar. It also means Aston Martin will become the only carmaker to offer racers in every GT category.

“The new Vantage GT2 completes our product portfolio for 2008 with competitive cars now available in every category. Thanks to our experience with the DBRS9, we have been able to develop a bio-ethanol fuelled version, which will be eligible to compete in an increasing number of series now accommodating this greener fuel, including the American Le Mans Series.” said Robin Brundle of Aston Martin Racing.

And another first - this car is designed to run on both race fuel and E85 bio-ethanol for races such as such as ALMS. Back in in ‘07 AMS converted a standard DBRS9 to run on E85, but this is the first car designed from the word go to run on both.

David Richards, Aston Martin chairman, will be announcing AMR’s 2008 competition plans at the Autosport International show in Birmingham on January 10th. Expect the see the Vantage GT2 turning heads there as well. We hope to snag some photos and more details for our loyal readers.
