2008 Barrett-Jackson’s Muscle Car Wars

As of the most prestigious and anticipated car auctions in the world, Barret-Jackson has always been known for ‘collector’ cars. Well that’s changed a bit over the last few years, led by offerings from Shelby (Gt500, GT-H, etc.) and other custom tuner-car builders. Now that the infamous ‘Muscle Car Wars’ are back, the auction’s playing up to it’s new role and will be offering three of today’s most sought after late model sports cars.

Lot #1300 will be the very first 2008 Shelby GT500 KR offered for sale, one of just 1,000 or so built for the year. Powered by a Ford SVT-engineered 5.4-liter V8 supercharged engine boasting a monsterous 540 horsepower, it truley deserves it’s  ’King of the Road’ moniker. It will also be the first and only car offered with a new “segment exclusive” feature that will be unveiled during the auction - we’ll speculate it’ll be special badging or identification of some sort.

Lot #1319 will have the ‘First Retailable Unit Built’ of the 2009 Corvette ZR1. Powered by a 6.2 liter supercarged LS9 engine belching out an incredible 600 horsepower. By retailable unit, we speculate that means this isn’t the first ZR1 Chevrolet built, they’ve probably shipped off a few for testing or to aftermarket tuners or maybe saved one to collect with no intent on selling. This one’s sure to go fast (pun intended).

Lot #1331 will show off the 2008 Challenger SRT-8, the first production unit to come off the assembly line (now that’s what we call ‘first’). The car will include all production options including the powerful 6.1 liter HEMI V8 engine making 425 horsepower. This car will be identified by a unique dash plaque to showing off it’s #1 production status.

As with most of these manufacturer first of run type auctions, all proceeds will be donated to charity. All three have their own favorite charities - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), The United Way, and the notMYkid charity respectively. These auctions will be taking place on the 19th.
