Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 GT Coming To America
Florida based Mercedes tuner, RENNtech, has been given an exclusive contract to import and distribute the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 GT in North America. Things just got alittle brighter for the sunshine state - A1A Beachfront Avenue anyone?
Having already tuned the SLR road car to an astonishing 722 horsepower (wonder where the 722 GT got its name?), RENNtech will be offering 21 copies of the SLR 722 GT track-day special at a cool 1.2 million bucks each.
Compared to your typical SLR, the 722 GT gets the full FIA GT treatment. Hundreds of redesigned components, FIA spec. safety equipment, fully adjustable suspension, full-on competition brake hardware, a no-nonsense interior, and a track-only exhaust system that bumps the 722 GT’s output to well over 670 hp is the ticket to a full-on race ready track car.
Tipping the scales at 1390 kg, the 722 GT weighs a cool 600 lbs less than the stock 722. The towering rear wing and front splitter, combined with years of wind tunned and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) help to ensure even the craziest and most over-paid fanboys have enough aerodynamic downforce to make it through the corners (or your local neighborhood dead-man’s curve) in one piece. How thoughtful.
