Toyota Tundra Is Motor Trend’s 2008 Truck of the Year
This year’s winner of the coveted Motor Trend Truck of the Year award goes to - last year’s winner. And the year before that, and the year before that. In case you’ve been sleeping, we’re talking about the Tundra. Toyota’s all-new for 2007 truck beat out competition from Chevrolet’s Silverado HD, GMC’s Sierra HD and Ford’s line of F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks.
For those unfamilier with Motor Trend’s TOTY competition, each truck is scored by editors in the areas of superiority, value, and significance. While it certainly the most significant truck in it’s class for this competition, we just don’t know about superiority and value - but what do we know anyhow… we’re just enthusiasts without the clout of multi-million dollar magazines and endorsements.
One thing is for sure though, the Tundra is here to stay. It has worked it’s way into an American-dominated market and - dare we say - possibly becoming a leader in that market. Tundra sales are fast approaching 200,000 units and, with recent gas prices and Toyota’s dependability reputation, there’s a good chance they’ll get there (and they’re banking on that too). Let this be yet another shot in the arm to US automakers.
